week 2, tuesday night
[After a bit of a distraction, Ris is finally making her way toward the frontmost car of the train. It's later than she would like, by now, so she's not certain if the Conductor will still be in her office...
It's upsetting, she thinks, as she goes to knock on the door, that she's seen this woman twice and she still can't remember anything other than "purple." Hell, she's not even sure it's a woman she's seen. She's picked up the gender by and large from other people...
Ris will try the office first, because while she may be seethingly angry for others' sakes, she is not an animal. If that doesn't work, then it's onto the conductor's quarters, because she is speaking with the purple woman tonight if it kills her.
Either way, her request is the same.]
Conductor? Apologies for interrupting, but I have questions. It should only be a minute.
[And she won't be showing any emotion in front of the eye-searing kidnapper, either, despite how her stomach is twisting. She's played this game for a long time. She can hold a poker face.]

[The Conductor is mixing ink colors in her office. Her very modern looking office.
Yes? What is it?

Ris lets herself inside, closing the door behind her. She is, as always, very proper. When she speaks to the Conductor, it's with her hands clasped in front of her, even.]
About your "Little Courtesy," and the Pardon you say you have.
I dislike pain, and I do not particularly wish to die, so lacking other options I suppose I must follow your rules. But.
Are there rules governing who that Pardon goes to? That is, if I were to claim a life on this ship, would I be required to use it for the person in my video feed, or would I be permitted to pardon others?

[The Conductor brings a finger up to her mouth in thought.]
Generally, it is for the person or people you know. Unless--
...
You don't want to pardon them, do you?

I would like very much if he were to stay there to rot for the rest of eternity, if at all possible.

I see. Well. I can't guarantee that the Empress will agree, but I would not say it to be impossible for her to make an exception in this case. Of course, you know that you must get away with murder for that, either way.
...Out of curiosity? Whose group would you pardon, if not yours?

[That question makes her fall silent, thinking.]
...It is difficult to say, right on the spot. After everything this morning, I will not lie and say I am not sorely tempted to say King. [Even though she knows damn well he'd hate her for it. But is it not worth it, to reunite a family?] But... there is Mithos, as well.
But I know it can only be one of the two. I will have to weigh my options a bit further.

Was there anything else?

...One more question, actually.
Did you enjoy watching them in pain, earlier?
["Them" being her fellow Strangers, that is.]
no subject
...No. I will not pretend to be a good person, of course. Depending on who you speak to I've not been one for a good time.
But none of you would be who'd I enjoy to see suffer.

Ris doesn't visibly react, other than to blink, but she does give a small hum of acknowledgement. It seems she got the answer she wanted.]
Then, that is all the questions I had for you. I bid you a pleasant night, then, Conductor.

[Ris may not remember those lines. But she will find remembering the woman is easier than before.]
